As planned in the previous blog, this time I will demonstrate solution in the case of W5 blog with AHP method. The problem is selecting the purchase of motorbike by overlook cost as attribute or criteria. But in the end it tries to put back the cost factor by benefit-cost ratio calculation.
Problem Statement
Laundry service in my neighbourhood at this time is seemed to be an interesting business, in this posting I want talk a selection of washer machine using multi attributes as discussed in Engineering Economy Engineering Book, chapter 14: Decision Making Considering Multi Attributes”, page 551-573. This time I pick for a front loading washing machine with washing capacity 7 kg. what is the best option for buying washer machine to get as many attributes offered by manufacturer.

Do we need a refrigarator? Yes absolutely. Nowadays every family, every house must have refrigerator to keep food fresh. Manufactures offer various product and let customer choose by their preference. Since me and my wife is moving in to our new home, we are confused in buying a refrigerator. We should consider about price, feature, power consumption and also the model.
First we will discuss from total life cycle aspect.

Step 1- Problem or Opportunity Statement

1. Problem Definition
At this fifth blog, I will do a qualitative type of the selection decision method. I am planning to buy a motorcycle for short distance transportation. As we know, many brands and variants of motorcycles in the market with competitive quality and price. Therefore, the selection is more based on a subjective feeling or desire rather than the data in the form of numbers.

I am one of million commuters who travel every day to Jakarta for business purpose. Traffic in Jakarta is a nightmare; Vehicles Growth in Jakarta is 11% while Road Growth is only 0.01% (http://www.tribunnews.com/metropolitan/2013/03/05/kendaraan-tumbuh-11-jalan-cuma-tumbuh-001).
It was predicted that in 2014 there will be saturated traffic congestion in Jakarta as shown in Figure 1 below if private vehicles are uncontrollable. I have to anticipate this situation and my plan is to formulate which is the best option transportation mode to take on.
