W9_TOM_Setting up “Our Lovely House Brownfield Project” by using Humphreys Earned Value Project Management Technique

I am planning to renovate my house in sha Allah in February 2014 and I will call it “Our Lovely House Brownfield Project”.

The term brownfield was originally used in construction and development to reference land that at some point was occupied by a permanent structure. In a brownfield project the structure would need to be demolished or renovated. (Source: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/B/brownfield.html)

W9_ANG_ERR for Student Pick-up Service

Problem Statement

Following my previous blog posting, on this posting I would discuss to determine “GO” or “NO go” for Student pick-up service business investment using ERR calculation. I would use most likely approach assumption as discussed on my week 5th posting. This also to satisfy myself that in fact I had problem calculate rate of return using IRR formula based on most likely approach for my week 8th posting, that’s why yesterday I changed it to be based on pessimistic approach.

On this posting, I put three scenarios: 1st is fully using equity fund, 2nd is using mixed equity and debt which ten million rupiah of investment (21.74%) is using debt and 3rd is also mixed which forty million rupiah of investment (86.96%) is using debt. Continue reading

W9_AEP_Reanalysis the Gold savings for cow

200910YearofOxGold

Problem identification

Previously discussed in my W8.1 blog that saving in gold to buy a cow to be sacrificed on Eid al-Adha is preferred as it is the only stable currency. Using the 2000-2013 data price per kg in Rupiah (IDR) and Dollar (USD) which were converted to gold unit per kg for analysis, the 3 trendlines set shows the big spread with R-squared below 0.90. Dr. Paul commented that I need to do experiment to get the curves of scenarios closer together and find the way for the R-squared to be above 0.90. The fluctuation of cow price over the years influences the trendline curves. While the historical values come from the average price of its year, the 2013 value comes from the spot price in Eid al-Adha.

Now I try to made 12 months future cost estimation of imported soybean price and use a new alternative currency reference with gold that consider as stable currency.

W9_SSD_Multiattributes Decision – Analytic Hierarchy Process Method– Selecting Solution for Network Issues

1. Problem Definition

In previous blogs, I use Non Compensatory Model, Compensatory Model, and Full Analytical Criteria Method as decision making tools, to make decision on selecting a project to fix a network issue. In this blog I will use Analytic Hierarchy Process as decision making tool. I am also going to use the same problem as in blog Week 6[7].

Analytic Hierarchy Process is a tool which has been introduced by Thomas L. Saaty in the early 1980s[4]. It based on methodology where the problem is decomposed into hierarchy of criteria and alternatives (options). The information is then synthesized to determine relative ranking of alternatives/options. Both qualitative and quantitative information can be compared using informed judgements to derive weights and priorities Continue reading
