W20_SSG_Resource Cost Profile based on Current Update

PROBLEM DEFINITION

Having update the CPM schedule baseline reflected on the W19, the next problem is to identify cost profile due to current update as of Jan 3, 2014.

DEVELOPMENT OF FEASIBLE ALTERNATIVES

There are some software’s available for scheduling and cost management hat can be used. In this blog, writer is choosing Primavera Project Management P6 V.7. By using this software, we will be able to provide cost profile due to current performance update.

DEVELOPMENT OF OUTCOMES FOR EACH ALTERNATIVE

Each of the activities represents duration of each task and the total expected hours per week reflected on the calendar type of each activity. Based on this, we can develop the cost profile by multiplying the budget hours x time rate ($200 / hours) by considering current update and CPM schedule on W19.

SELECTION OF CRITERIA

Having updated the CPM schedule, it shows that potential delay of course to March 25, 2014. Delay on the schedule will affect the cost profile as well. In figure 2, cost profile updated due to delay on CPM schedule.

Figure 1. Baseline, and Current project schedule status using CPM method

Figure 2. Resource utilization considering Current Performance

ANALYSIS FOR THE ALTERNATIVES

Based on the above cost profile, it shows that cumulative cost to date is less than budgeted and the total cumulative cost (actual + remaining) > budgeted. And the same time phasing of the cost is scratched to march 25, 2014.

SELECTION ON THE PREFERRED ALTERNATIVES

By updating the actual condition to date, we can identify potential delay and cost profile of the course.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND POST EVALUATION RESULT

In order to be able to manage the cost, the other delay is not an option. The next step is to identify that remaining work is still be able to be executed by existing resource.

One response to “W20_SSG_Resource Cost Profile based on Current Update

  1. Great job again, Pak Sutoyo, but keep in mind that COST against your budget was your problem. All your CfH was interested in was getting his deliverables submitted on time and to graduate level quality…….

Right now, I am more worried about how those of you left standing are going to be able to finish ALL the work which remains, when you’ve essentially lost 5-6 weeks……?

But keep on trying and let’s see how we make out….. I am with you all the way!!! You continue to do your part and I promise I will continue to do my part….

    BR,
    Dr. PDG
