W19_SSG_Update Progress on CPM Scheduling


PROBLEM DEFINITION

Having developed the CPM schedule baseline reflected on the W16, the next problem is to identify potential delay or ahead schedule due to current performance as of Jan 3, 2014).

DEVELOPMENT OF FEASIBLE ALTERNATIVES

One of the method to identify potential delay or ahead schedule of the activities due to actual performance of the work is using CPM schedule network update. Primavera Project Management P6 V.7 has capabilities to exercise CPM scheduling network potential delay or ahead schedule by updating current performance.

DEVELOPMENT OF OUTCOMES FOR EACH ALTERNATIVE

By updating the current performance, we will be able to identify whether our course will be delayed or ahead by comparing current status vs. baseline network and duration.

SELECTION OF CRITERIA

Refer to baseline schedule, It shows that the training preparation start on August 26 and project to be completed on February 18, 2014 with following critical path activities:

After updating the schedule to actual condition, the new finish date is projected March 25, 2014. The critical activities with zero “0” float are:

ANALYSIS FOR THE ALTERNATIVES

The major contributor to delay is SIM-5 Problem Solving and SIM-2 Mapping tools and technique. The total delay is 35 calendar days.

SELECTION ON THE PREFERRED ALTERNATIVES

By using the CPM schedule and it’s relationship, we can identify potential delay or ahead schedule of finish date based on current actual performance.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND POST EVALUATION RESULT

The critical path after to date update (Jan 3, 2014) is A1140, A1160, A1180, A1260. We shall focus on this activities in order us able to prevent another delay out of today forecast.
