Problem Statement

For the follow up of CfH comment about my Week 5^th Blog posting, in this posting I will discuss about the value of Minimum Attractive Rate of Return (MARR) as our basis to determine whether the projected rate of return of having student pick up service business is attractive enough to be proceeded or not.

In this posting the determination of MARR is based on an assumption that the investment is fully funded by equity of personal investor. For the next blog posting, I plan to put assumption that the fund will be mixed between equity and debt (borrowed fund) to discuss about the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC).

Problem identification

Six weeks have passed since the Simatupang AACE 2014 Team was formed to fulfil the AACE International certification project. In the beginning, it was suggested for the Team select the Norming stage, eventhough Clark’s Team Development Survey resulted the Performing stage. The team leader also suggested to be alert and maintain the team performance by using the Situational Leadership Model of coaching and participating. Ongoing weekly progress reports then showed the group dynamics and trends that may affect the whole team’s performance. Unfortunately, some deliverables are behind their schedules and more are coming in the subsequent weeks. Something is happening and require immediate action to restore the moral of the team individual.

I am planning to start my own business and one from many business options seems favorable to me is investing in retail sectors which is a mini-mart at suburban area.

I wanted to have a 24 hours service mini-mart therefore need to have a Diesel Generator as a back-up power.

For information, a diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electric generator (often an alternator) to generate electrical energy.

W7_SSD_Multiattributes Decision Compensatory Model – Selecting Solution for Network Issues

1. Problem Definition

In previous blog, I use Non Compensatory Model to make decision on selecting a project to fix a network issue. Problem Recognition, Definition, and Evaluation

The new project has been established with name Water Pre Treatment Package Project. The Project objectives are:

1. To ensure there is no solid particles carry over from water well to WTP
   
2. To increase potable water production capacity
   
3. To reduce time for backwash activity
   
4. To Prevent RO membranes damage due to contamination in its feed water
   

During FEL-0, Operation people defined that to achieve all of project objective above, we shall install pre-treatment unit at Upstream of WTP. This week blog, we will create NORSOK Standard Z-014 3D WBS as one of other alternative for this project
