W19_APE_Asphalt Pavement Core Drill Test


  1. Problem Definition

The common method today for pavement thickness assessment after execution [both asphalt and concrete] compare to contract specification is using core drill method. Consultant Supervision and Client determine method assessment in the bid for payment work item with tolerance according to standard. Field core drill test can be used also to assess pavement quality since we have samples from test points. Both parameters are the guideline for declaring work progress for Contractor.

W12_SSD_Selecting the Right Distribution


  1. Problem Definition

A switchroom is one of the biggest non electrical components in a substation. Based on the information received on several tender submissions, a table which indicate the percentage of design work cost compare to total project cost is developed. The table is shown in Table 1.

To properly use this set of data for estimating purpose, one need to identify what type of probability distribution may fit with the data. This distribution later may be used to calculate the contingency fund. Continue reading

PROBLEM DEFINITION

Having developed the cost baseline profile based on Week 16 CPM schedule, I find that resource allocation is not preferable where the resource is so demanding in the beginning and the end of the course. I prefer the time allocation is more “flat” on weekly basis.
