W16_SSG_CPM Schedule using Primavera (CPM Schedule baseline)

PROBLEM DEFINITION

I am attending the training of CCP preparation course with several tasks to be completed with tight schedule. In order to be able to finish the task on time, I would like to have my own schedule baseline as my guideline to be followed.

DEVELOPMENT OF FEASIBLE ALTERNATIVES

There are some software’s available for scheduling that can be used. In this blog, writer is choosing Primavera Project Management P6 V.7. By using this software we would be able to see the breakdown of the work, duration, and relationships of each activity that can be followed.

DEVELOPMENT OF OUTCOMES FOR EACH ALTERNATIVE

Each of the activities represents duration of each task and the relationships. Based on this, we can find the critical path, zero float, of the activities and we can focus on this critical activities to ensure that the course can be completed on time.

SELECTION OF CRITERIA

Having put all the activities and the relationships to Primavera, It shows that the training preparation start on August 26 and project to be completed on February 14, 2014.

SELECTION ON THE PREFERRED ALTERNATIVES

Having developed the schedule baseline, it shows the critical activities that potentially will become stopper. They are activities number A1010, A1020, A1030, A1040, A1140, A1160, A1170, A1190, and A1260.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND POST EVALUATION RESULT

Once the training is started and the schedule baseline completely developed, the next step is to update the actual status of each time period. The major concern will be on the critical activities as explained above.

One response to “W16_SSG_CPM Schedule using Primavera (CPM Schedule baseline)

  1. I am not able to read the schedule clearly when I expand the picture but do you have any open ends in this schedule? Have you compared your schedule against the GAO’s “Best Practices Checklist” in Appendix 1? If not, that too would make a really great posting…….

Show us you know how to use that GAO checklist and I can assure you it will help you with your CCC/E exam!!
